I really liked this presentation. Something specific that I enjoyed was multimedia theory. Focusing on the best ways to catch attention without distracting from your point. It was presented in a way that was easy to grasp and in depth enough to give a greater understanding. I also appreciated the run over VR as a tool, as I would not have previously considered it. TeacherTube was also gone over, discussing the pros and cons. Pros included that there would be many resources and a variety of information that can be directly used in the classroom or homework. Cons included the need to ensure it is a video using the same vocab you are, the content monitoring, and needing the curriculum to match BC’s. A couple more neutral points is just making sure ELL students are able to find subtitles if needed and remembering to embed the video directly so students do not get distracted while trying to search for the video. Overall I really enjoyed this guest speaker and what we learned!
